Clay Thunder Beats VFC Arsenal
Congrats to the CSC Thunder 97, who earned a hard fought 2-1 win over VFC Arsenal. It was the first victory for the Division II squad and the first Division II squad win for Clay Soccer Club.
Trailing 1-0, Griff Boykin scored the equalizer off an assist from Morgan Coston. In the final minutes of the match, Patrick Millican scored the game winner off a feed from Billy Knapp.
“I was starting to think we could not buy a goal,” said Thunder head coach Bill Knapp. “We must have hit the post five times in this game. I am proud of our kids, they never gave up.” Defenders Jarrod Stisher and Tyler Sumpter played key roles throughout the second half by containing Valley FC offensive attack. Each time Valley played a ball into the Thunder end, Sumpter and Stisher were there to turn them away |
