The 2009 Clay Super Cup finished this weekend with three teams ending up on top of the pile.... (Click Title for the full story)
Trussville Blaze 2000 won the U10 girls division.
The U10 girls division consisted of Trussville Blaze 2000, Trussville Fire & Twister Sisters. Blaze won their first two games putting them out of reach, and shoe-ins for the championship.
Future Stars won the U10 boys division.
The U10 boys division was the most highly contested division of our tournament. In a group where all three teams ended with one draw, the only game that broke the tie between the 3 teams involved was between Future Stars and CSC's Mayhew's Mayhem. Clay was up by by a couple of goals with only 10 minutes go go. Future stars made a very strong fight back to level the score at 4-4. Future stars won the game in the last 2 minutes with a neatly taken goal, and that earned them the extra points to win the division.
Springivlle Tigers won the U12 Boys division.
Another division that came down to the last game before deciding a winner. Had Clay's Jolly Jiants shut out the Gardendale Strkers, they would have won the division title. But Gardendale came prepared and put 2 past the boys in blue, awarding the Springville Tigers the division championship.
To all the coaches, parents, league directors, and to those volunteers who assisted with running our first tournament;
We at Clay Soccer Club applaud you for your attitude of your, your clubs parents and your children. We have very few incidents of any concern, and for the most part, everything went perfectly smooth.
We have learned a few lessons that we will learn from and use that information in our next venture for a tournament.
All in all, we appreciate you taking part in our event. We hope you had a great time, and that your players improved as a result of this competition. We will be having more tournaments for our local Recreational teams, so keep an eye on our website for updates!
Thanks Again,
Steven Ryals
